Moving house is an expensive venture, so it's important to get the best price for your property to cover the extra fees that come with purchasing a new home. Creating more space, adding storage and redecorating are all known to add value to a house, but they're not the most affordable ways to attract buyers. A spokesperson for LOVESPACE said: “Before putting your house up for sale, it is important to make sure it is in tip-top condition ahead of inviting prospective buyers round for viewings.

“This may mean quickly fixing those old squeaky floorboards or adding some flair to your space by reupholstering furniture to stand out in the online photos."

Floorboards can become loose and uneven over time, making them a tripping hazard as well as an annoyance.

If the floorboard is in good condition, you can take out the nails and screw it down using the existing nail holes, though you will need to make new holes if it's badly damaged.

Always measure your mirror and cut your baseboards to the exact measurement beforehand to ensure a seamless finish.

Finish by painting the wood and securing the boards to the mirror using liquid nails.

Making your home energy efficient is a great way to entice buyers, particularly while selling in winter. While investing in good insulation is always recommended, sealing up draughty windows and doors is much more budget-friendly.

LOVESPACE said: "Caulking is an easy and cost-effective way to seal up windows, and door seals can be installed underneath any doors to cover up the gaps and keep heat in."

Though it is a more tricky task, reupholstering is an inexpensive way to brighten up your living space.
